The Bermuda Triangle is an infamous area of the Atlantic Ocean where dozens of ships and planes have disappeared. It’s a mystery that has intrigued scientists for years, but one of them thinks he finally knows the causes of these unexplained phenomena.

According to scientists at the University of Southampton, there are rogue waves of up to 30 metres in height inside the Bermuda Triangle, roughly bounded by Miami, Bermuda and Puerto Rico, which could explain why so many ships and planes have sunk there.
Scientists explained their theory in a documentary entitled « The Bermuda Triangle Enigma ». They used indoor simulators to create the monstrous water waves. To explain the situation, the scientists created a scale model of the USS Cyclops, a massive ship that disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle in 1918, killing 306 people. And because of its size and flat base, it doesn’t take long before the model is covered with water during the simulation.

Some experts say the USS Cyclops came to a supernatural end. Dr Simon Boxall, a specialist in earth and ocean sciences, said: « This infamous area of the Atlantic can see three massive storms gathering from different directions, perfect conditions for a rogue wave ». « Such an onslaught of water could cause a ship, such as the USS Cyclops, to break in TWO. » According to him, the storms could all come from the south and the north. He added: « And if there are more coming from Florida, there could be a potentially deadly formation of rogue waves ».
